Pirelli…Power is in control

Pirelli decided (like BMW three years ago) to go blockbuster on our browsers…
Directed by Antoine Fuqua (King Arthur, training day) starring Naomi Campbell as the Devil and John Malkovich as the Priest, created by Leo Burnett Italy.
So why is Pirelli doing this? Because power is nothing without control. That’s there brand signature, and it is supposed to live abstractedly in the movie.

GOOGLE.CN

Yeah! Google is opening its search engine in China! Yeah?
Not so sure… Some sites will be blacklisted to “comply with Chinese Laws”. Chinese will not be able to find any sites that question the Chinese government, talk about teen pregnancy, homosexuality, dating, beer or jokes.
By doing this Google goes further than Yahoo!’s or MSN’s search engines.
go go google… not!

So why change a technical breakthrough that viraled once, turning around the web like a pierced nipple would.
Well just do it again. The execution is tight, but the creative idea is surprisingly déja vu…maybe.

The web, new and free media platform?

So WK London announced on their blog that the Honda Civic ad has been viewed 804 OOO on its website.
All this traffic with no online media buying that I know of.
So is this just another step towards the end of TV, like a lot of gurus predicted?
What’s clear is that when you watch a tv ad interrupting your show or movie you’re in a whole different mindset than when you choose to view it.
Imposed Branding vs Requested Branding

a very good comment on the blog from Simon Andrews (whoever that is):
This is a sign of our times:
If you have a good ad you can get a big audience on the web for free - so why buy media?
If you have a crap ad no-one is going to take any notice - so why buy media?

The Racismomaton

I don’t know any racists, but, it’s true that in France, like most countries with a strong immigration, a passive, unconscious racism can be felt. Most of the times, there’s no coherent reasoning or theories behind it.
The Racismomaton is an “autonomous computarized cabin that, by means of a computer game, allows passersby to take a test that will unveil his/her implicit attitudes towards foreigners. Attitudes that usually are found under discriminatory behaviors.” The test is simple and based on a IAT (Implicit Association Test). IAT were created for the "Project Implicit" by psychologists at Harvard, the University of Virginia and the University of Washington.

Agent Provocateur goes for it (again)!

After making Kylie rodeo an electric bull, Agent Provocateur tease us again…
Sometimes, it’s just too easy. The pitch? Two models making out in lingerie, a night view camera (à la Paris Hilton).
Like I said, too easy…but who said easy didn’t work?

I bumped into this book some time ago while working in the bookstore of a hip shop here in Paris. I have just discovered the website. The pictures set are a painting of Rotterdam vibrant street scene. The concept holds in one word: Exactitudes: a contraction of exact and attitude (ok, that was 7 words with the explanation).

Cult Potential - Japan Dairy Council

This has cult potential. It seems that working for Milk producers gives a special twist to creative people. Maybe that’s the secret: milk is a creative booster. Anyway, this japanese site is great for a lot of reasons. The 30’ ads are kitschy and funny, the discovery of the product is original they have a comic strip, they make their cow teats logo run around the site and how can you not love the roll over on the cow! This why we just love Japan, I guess! GYUNYU NAN DA (whatever that means)

This morning

This morning, something struck me. Ford is cutting more than 20 000 jobs, and closing maybe 14 facilities. This represent 20 to 25 percent of Ford's North American work force. Now as you can see on the chart, the share price is going ok. Not great but ok. I'm not an economist, i don't have any pHd from Wharton, but what if Ford sold some of its brands (Volvo, Jaguar....) instead of laying off its workers? Sometimes it's hard to accept market oriented decisions when they impact daily lives of 20 000 thousands people...
How is Ford dealing with the crisis? Just by pointing out that this is a long term plan that will create jobs...evenutally... more solid jobs...eventually. I don't think that this argument will be enough to justify such a decision. Let's see where Ford's management crisis firm/advisors take it.

The Village goes viral

A small viral video to promote Village voice classifies. Personally it’s a bit soft to get that viral vibe. I mean would you really send it to any of your friend? So why is it on my blog? Simply because the idea is good, but, like most of the time, the execution lacks some f*$=kin’ wildness.

Honda Civic, modern canvas for a choir

Another kick in the butt advertising project by Wieden + Kennedy UK. These guys are on a rampage. The ad is great. The site is very cool, but could have been "more" tuned in with the choir concept. Maybe experience driving via sounds or whatever...

First Impression - Behaviour and Information Technology

Well, it's quite interesting to see that first impressions, for a website, stick in webusers mind. In a blink of a second he scans the page...if he is having a positive vibe, he will stick with it for sometime and will spread this positive feeling to other areas of the page (content etc..). This is what specialised and very intelligent people that have at least two phD call the halo effect.

It's always interesting when interactive goes offline.
